Now more than ever, people are putting in a greater effort to shop more sustainably. To celebrate Earth Day, we tapped four fashion insiders to share the steps they're taking to shop in a greener way and to show us how they're styling Walmart's latest collection from Free Assembly, which is out to build a fashion brand that's committed to sustainability. Free Assembly's line includes styles that feature mostly organic cotton (which avoids fertilizers and pesticides), recycled polyester, and denim produced in LEED-certified facilities (the premiere rating for more sustainable buildings). And to take it a step further, Free Assembly denim is made using washing techniques that encourage reduced water usage. The result? Incredibly stylish pieces that you can feel extra good about shopping.

Not only am I looking to brands like Free Assembly that are working to deliver more sustainable styles, but I've been making an effort to shop much less often. I started to build more of a capsule closet and purchase pieces that I want to wear for years instead of seasons. These sustainability efforts are important to me because as a mom, I want to do my part to create a better environment for the future. I choose more eco-friendly pieces because I want to help our planet, promote health, and so much more. I'm still learning how to be more sustainable every year, but I believe it's important for us to make changes in our daily lives no matter how big or small.

As my wardrobe continues to evolve, I'm starting to make smarter choices about what I'm including in the mix. Cost per wear is crucial, and if I'm not going to wear an item over and over again, it's not for me. It's a bonus if a piece is made from recycled or organic materials and produced in ways that are gentler on the environment.

This year, I'm making a conscious effort to purge my closet more often and resell items I no longer wear. And most importantly, I'm committing to restyling and making full use of items I already own. I'm finding ways to refresh looks that I already have in my closet by switching up my accessories (like I did with this Free Assembly look). I love that Free Assembly is striving for sustainability and also has a variety of stylish and on-trend products at amazing prices.

I've definitely tried to shop more sustainably in the past, but this year, thoughtfully designed clothing is more accessible than ever. I'm so excited to see my favorite brands take initiative to create products that are better for the environment. I'm a denim lover, and after learning how much water it takes to make one pair of jeans (spoiler alert: it's a lot), it's refreshing to see that Free Assembly is conscious about water consumption. After the past two years we've had, I'm doing anything I can to make sure this planet is a better place to live.
